At Paws Away, your furry friend will enjoy a variety of cozy sleeping options! We provide elevated beds, cots, pillows, and soft blankets throughout our dog-friendly home in Calgary. If your dog has a favorite bed, blanket, or crate that makes them feel secure, feel free to bring it along. Our goal is to ensure your pet has the most comfortable and enjoyable stay with us!
We prioritize your dog’s dietary needs and preferences at Paws Away. We’ll stick to their usual mealtime routine, whether they prefer grazing or regular meals. Please bring their regular food—be it kibble, raw, or homemade. We ensure all meals are kept separate to prevent allergies or behavioral issues, and we always provide fresh, clean water. We closely monitor hydration, especially after playtime and walks.
We occasionally use treats for special moments, like during introductions or park outings to capture their attention. Dried liver treats are a favorite among our canine guests! However, we won’t distribute treats without your permission. If you’d prefer a treat-free experience for your dog, we’re more than happy to accommodate your request!
It’s common for dogs to skip meals in new environments due to excitement or stress. At Paws Away, we monitor your dog’s eating habits closely. If they seem uninterested, we may try warming their food, hand-feeding, or offering smaller portions. If we have any health concerns, we will reach out to you and consult their veterinarian if needed. Sometimes, all they need is a bit of time to adjust!
Keeping dogs active and happy is our top priority! Whether it’s an adventurous hike in the nearby Calgary mountains for a high-energy husky or a gentle stroll for a senior chihuahua, we tailor activities to each dog’s individual needs. Our spacious, fenced yard allows for unlimited playtime throughout the day, ensuring your pup will be tired and content by bedtime.
Absolutely! With your written permission, we love taking dogs to off-leash parks in Calgary. Your dog must have a reliable recall for off-leash fun, so we’ll confirm your commands and conduct a quick test run to ensure they’re ready. Safety is our utmost concern; if we have any doubts, your dog will enjoy structured on-leash walks and playtime instead. Off-leash parks provide a fantastic opportunity for socialization and exploration, but we always require your approval and a signed waiver.
At Paws Away, we maintain a safe and welcoming environment. Food is never left unattended, and certain areas, like the basement, are off-limits. To promote good behavior, large breeds are not allowed on furniture. Each dog will enjoy meals made from the food you provide, and if we run low, we’ll contact you to make arrangements.
When your dog stays at Paws Away, they become part of our family! Most of the time, someone is present to supervise them. Occasionally, we may step out briefly for errands or family commitments. If your dog has separation anxiety or special needs, we ensure they receive constant supervision. Just let us know your concerns, and we’ll work together to find the best solution!
At Paws Away, we typically host 1 to 2 dogs, with a maximum of 6 at any given time. This allows for a more personalized experience. If your dog is staying for an extended period, they’ll have the opportunity to socialize and play with other dogs, which is fantastic for their development. If you prefer your dog to be the only guest, simply let us know, and we’ll arrange it!

As part of our team, sitters receive ongoing guidance, resources, and access to a supportive pet-care community. We provide recommendations on handling challenging situations, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring each dog’s comfort. Sitters also have direct access to our management team for any questions or concerns.
We understand how important it is to leave your dog with someone you trust! All Paws Away sitters go through a careful screening process, including interviews, and training in best pet care practices. We match your dog with a sitter who fits their personality and needs, ensuring a safe and comfortable stay. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet your sitter beforehand and receive updates while your pup is in their care.
